Angela received her PhD from the University of Strathclyde in 2009 for her work on the history of learning disability in Glasgow since 1945. Since then she has been part of a contemporary study of physical activity, health and disability for the Bailey Thomas Foundation at Glasgow Caledonian University. Angela also won a grant from Glasgow Life to carry out a research into disability, volunteering and inclusion for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in 2011. She is one of the founder members of the Disability History Group and has also worked with children and adults with disabilities in education and sport for a number of years. She is national coach for disabilities gymnastics for British Gymnastics and runs City of Glasgow Disabilities Gymnastics Club.
