Don MacRaild is Professor of History in the Department of Humanities of Northumbria University. He is a specialist in British and Irish social and labour history, with particular interests in migration and diasporas. Recent books include Faith, Fraternity and Fighting: the Orange Order and Irish Migrants in England, c.1850-1920 (Liverpool University Press, 2005), The Irish Diaspora in Britain, 1750-1939, enlarged second edition (Macmillan, 2010), and, as co-editor, Locating the English Diaspora, 1500-2010 (Liverpool: Liverpool University Press, 2012). He has been an expert reviewer for the IRCHSS, ESRC, Wellcome, sits on the AHRC Peer Review College, and is an editor of Immigrants and Minorities.
